The proposed route for the HS2 project has a Y-shaped layout running north to Manchester & Leeds with the option of extending further north at a later stage. In addition it is proposed that there will be a direct link to the HS1 line that runs to the Channel Tunnel so that the High Speed network will be able to run though to France and beyond.
