What is HS2 - Environmental Blight
It is accepted by all involved that this route will pass through a large swathe of countryside that comprises not only agricultural land but also a large number of important habitat and heritage locations. Whilst some of these such as Edgcote are obvious, many will be less easily identified and have probably been ignored in the assessment of the route so far. Once again, the effort devoted by Bucks CC to try to quantify this in their county is exemplary and might be used as a benchmark for others to follow. Each area has been carefully assessed for potential environmental disturbance and this will provide the basis for mitigation or remedial work if the line goes ahead.
